Abstract
Taking Epstein’s basic work on elastic vibrations in plates and shells, the author proceeds to construct expressions for the distributions of stress and displacements. From these, stress resultants are calculated. The principal effects of external load on the faces of the shell are included, and the validity of the approximation and practical applications of results are discussed.
