Abstract

A method for computing Euler parameters using three noncollinear points which have been given coordinates in a dynamic and an inertial frame is presented. One object with the method is to facilitate the establishment of initial conditions for differential equations by the use of multipoint data that can easily be interpreted physically. From these data, the mathematically convenient Euler parameters, which are used in computer programs for mechanical systems, are computed. A FORTRAN program is included.
