Influence of Relative Displacements Between Pinion and Gear on Tooth Root Stresses of Spiral Bevel Gears

A measuring method for determining the tooth root stresses of spiral bevel gears is presented. Some basic results referring to amount, distribution, and direction of root stresses are discussed. Moreover, as an example, the influence of variations of the pinion mounting distance on these items is described.
